Multiple women have come forward to accuse Minnesota Democratic Senator Al Franken of sexual misconduct. He has apologized for his behavior but that actually means very little from this Senator.
Franken wants America to accept his sentiments because he has no intention of retiring.
Just this year in his book Al Franken, Giant of the Senate he admitted that previous apologies were fake;
“To say I was sorry for writing a joke was to sell out my career, to sell out who I’d been my entire life. And I wasn’t sorry that I had written Porn-o-Rama or pitched that stupid Lesley Stahl joke at 2 in the morning. I was just doing my job.”

Franken was referring to past comments he had made about drugging and raping CBS reporter Lesley Stahl. He also ended up apologizing for a remark in a Playboy column about inventing a machine to perform oral sex on him. Clearly, those apologies meant nothing so why should anyone believe him this time around?
His book also explains that he realized apologies, even fake ones, were necessary to get ahead in politics;
“I learned that campaigns have their own rules, their own laws of physics, and that if I wasn’t willing to accept that, I would never get to be a senator.”
Now Franken wants to stay a Senator so he is apologizing again. During a press conference on Monday, he told listeners what he thought they wanted to hear. Even CNN was forced to admit he didn’t actually say much;
“I know that I’ve let a lot of people down, people of Minnesota, my colleagues, my staff, my supporters, and everyone who has counted on me to be a champion for women,” he said. “To all of you, I just want to again say that I am sorry.”
He wants voters to give him another chance. He doesn’t want to resign and wants to regain “trust.” How does he believe it’s possible to regain trust when he doesn’t ever tell the truth?
