Sanctuary cities vowed to protect illegal immigrants against the terrible federal government trying to follow laws and send them back to their home nations. What is the cost of this sort of shielding? It certainly doesn’t end with the financial burden.
This becomes startlingly clear in the case of two MS-13 gang members who were recently captured in the sanctuary state of Maryland. Illegals are quickly learning where to retreat when they are in trouble.
The two fugitives are not the innocent victims that liberals want America to believe are the ones being helped. The dangerous men are wanted for at least three separate murders.
Misael “Temblor” Zambrano Gonzalez is wanted for the 2016 murder of a 16-year-old boy in Texas. Gonzalez fled to Maryland where he could enjoy the protections of a sanctuary. It was there that he committed his next murder, 35-year-old Wilson Hernandez.
Allegedly, Gonzalez and Hernandez got into a fight over a woman. Gonzalez is accused of stabbing the other man eight times in the back. The man was able to escape from law enforcement shortly afterward by jumping from a balcony. Witnesses say Hernandez’ last words were, “You killed me, bro.”
Milton A. Portillo Rodriguez was also arrested by the U.S. Marshals. He is an MS-13 member from El Salvador. Rodriguez is accused of being involved in a murder in Maryland.
Both men were considered armed and dangerous so special task forces and response teams were used to capture them. Unfortunately for federal law enforcement and Maryland citizens, these type of high-risk arrests are becoming more common in the state.
MS-13 and other immigrant gangs are taking advantage of sanctuary policies and operating from within places like Maryland or hiding there when they are in trouble.
This is the reality of sanctuary cities and states. Politicians continue to push this liberal agenda, tying the hands of local law enforcement and making their jurisdictions much more dangerous.
Why would law-abiding citizens want MS-13 gang members and murders fleeing to their cities and states for protection? The answer should be obvious.
