National Guard Proves Useful At Border: 10,805 Arrested

Trump's plan is working wonderfully.

Anyone who believes that adding border agents and a bit of muscle to the workforce at the border isn’t really going to make a difference needs to see a recent report from Customs and Border Protection (CBP). According to the Washington Examiner, the deployment of the National Guard at the U.S. border with Mexico has led to the arrest of 10,805 people trying to enter America illegally.

These were even referred to as “deportable alien arrests” by a CBP spokeswoman on Monday. The National Guard has not arrested anyone, however, for they are a military body, not a law enforcement body. What they have done is point out where to dispatch the CBP to and this had led to the arrests, all since just last April. Mr. Trump’s move has had a huge impact and is highly effective, a couple of facts which are often hidden by the MSM.

It should also be noted that there was no lack of kindness being shown, either. There were 3,300 people who were turned around and likely instructed told to apply legally, as well. They were not arrested.

In an email to the Washington Examiner, CBP press secretary Corry Schiermeyer said also that “an additional 11,686 pounds of marijuana being seized as a result of their work.” This would imply to some people that the War on Drugs is actually fueling illegal activity at the border, an opinion that is shared by many.

There are currently 1,601 National Guard troops who are charged “with various surveillance, maintenance, and related operations” at the border. President Donald Trump has also approved the deployment of 4,000 more, as of April 4, 2018.

Other tasks which the National Guard are in charge of involves “providing support from the air, surveillance backup, and assistance with infrastructure projects like vegetation clearing and road maintenance, not including border wall construction.”

Yes, contrary to the mockers in the mainstream media, “The Wall” is being worked on, but that is not the goal here. This is more streamlined and far more focused.

This deployment also gets agents up from their desks and lets them return to the field where they are needed the most. Since the Guard’s monitoring systems can see much farther than what is standard, their job is made a bit easier, too.

As the truth comes out and those who would be tempted to enter the U.S.A. illegally are seeing that it is no longer the free ticket (except to jail) that it once was, perhaps, AT LAST, they will apply for legal entry.

It can only be hoped.
