Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley stated this week that he believes FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe should be removed from his position. However, the senator does not believe that President Trump should be the one to carry out the task. He told Bloomberg News;
“Trump ought to stay out of it. I think it’s a Christopher Wray job. He oughta be replaced. And I’ve said that before and I’ve said it to people who can do it.”
Senator Grassley believes that McCabe’s removal is the logical next step after his controversial roles in the Clinton email and Russian collusion scandals.
In October 2016, McCabe was forced to recuse himself from the Clinton email investigation. It was revealed that Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe had given hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to McCabe’s wife. McAuliffe is a close friend and supporter of the Clintons.

Regarding the Russian investigation, one of the text messages from now disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok’s phone, a meeting is mentioned as taking place in “Andy’s” office. Strzok wrote to Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer who he was also having a relationship at the time;
“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40
The FBI and Justice Department have agreed to make McCabe available for testimony to the House Intelligence Committee. He will be grilled about his role in the Russian collusion investigation. The Committee will also want to find out what his knowledge was about the now infamous Trump dossier.

The Judiciary Committee is also investigating that matter. It has not be made clear if McCabe will testify in the committee as well.
